A report from the Wall Street Journal (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=ca... is stating that Dish has been talking with different companies about starting a wireless service on the spectrum they own. Interestingly enough one of those companies happens to be Google. If you recall, Google at one point had wanted to provide a $9.99 subsidized data plan through T-Mobile back in 2006...

Last year, we entered a contract with Dish Network for a year of service at a pretty cheap rate. As happens in the Bay Area, we've decided to move to a new apartment, which won't let us install a satellite dish. We called Dish Network to cancel our service ($90 early cancelation fee) and ask them what to do with their satellite dish. They'll charge us $95 to come out, remove it and dispose of it. Or, we can just simply cut the cables ourselves, unbolt it, and throw away / recycle the dish. What?...

I got my hands on the Sling Loaded VIP922DVR as soon as it was released and love that it has given me the freedom to watch TV where and when I please. For those that travel but still love their entertainment, there's no better way to have a piece of home while you're off in distant lands.
I have to have my sport channels in HD like ESPN and my Fox channels. The greatest thing about having HD is that I was able to get my channels in HD free for the life of my account! That means I don’t pay a thing for HD.
My suspicion is that annoying 2.4ghz interference problem. Every-so-often when the remote's in the same room as the mic, the connection will cut out, but when I try to resync it to the Xbox, it won't let it back on player one. Only when I remove the remote from the room can it reconnect. Its very annoying. Anyone else have this problem?
glad I bought the service plan The 1st one was okay but remote response seemed a little slow. We had it for a year. a month ago it finally started giving errors all the time (I forget the numbers) errors were that the "smart card wasn't authorized" and "internal communications error" Dish quickly sent out a replacement. The 2nd one worked sort of. it randomly wouldn't pause during live tv. it took a week of troubleshooting with Dish before they finally agreed to...
We're thinking of potentially switching to Dish Network (from Comcast). We have two HDTV's in our apartment and are looking to set each of them up, connected to the same DVR. This way, we don't have duplicate content, shows, etc on multiple DVR's. I notice that Dish Network's top of the line DVR, the VIP 722, supports two televisions, however it looks like only one television can be hooked up via HD while the second television must be hooked up via SD. Is there any way to get...
Looks like Sears & KMart are currently the only two outlets for this product. This means no discounts and sales tax applies fully and it's mail order only. I ordered one from another vendor, but it turned out to be back ordered and they refunded my money after almost a month of waiting. Seems a shame as the difference in cost would be over $60 if I have to buy one from either Sears or KMart. Help me Amazon, you're my only hope!
Has anyone connected their VIP222k receiver to their ethernet connection of their computer? I am qurious if the video was available through the ethernet cable to view in IE. bigden
Does anyone have any info on when this is supposed to hit the street? I keep kicking around getting a sling box and adding it to the ViP I already have but I love that this is supposed to run in the background and not interrupt the user in front of the TV even if you are accessing it remotely. I'm willing to wait, I just don't know for how much longer...
cnet lost all my respect when they declared thins thing to be "Better than TiVo." What a crock! Two of my biggest gripes: 1. If you press record in the middle of a show, even though the show is fully cached in the memory (meaning you can rewind to the beginning), the DVR will record the show from the point you pressed record, NOT from the beginning of the show. If you want to record from the beginning, you have to manually "rewind" to the beginning of the program, then press...

A few weeks ago I wrote that one of the things Apple might do if it wanted to sell an HDTV would be to offer some sort of online television service that could lure regular people away from cable and satellite. I didn't get too specific at the time, but I have some ideas about what a competitive online TV service might look like and figured I'd ask the gdgt community to share its thoughts as well. Microsoft's new Xbox Live IPTV services are about as close as anyone seems to have gotten so far, but...

99 premium, offloading recordings to an external USB hard-drive or flash drive that has between a 50gb and a 1tb capacity. My question is would there be some way to offload or at minimum stream content over ethernet?
