Your thoughts on AirPlay after a few weeks of use?

I think it has the potential to be pretty seamless and awesome, but at the moment it is really finicky. I was sending audio from rdio and the iPod App and encountering constant drop outs over our wifi network (Apple TV, router, and iPad were all in the same room). Maybe this is why we're not seeing a lot of AirPlay supported devices and such on the market just yet -- it's not entirely reliable?

In one case, iOS didn't even give me an option to send audio to the Apple TV via AirPlay. I had to reboot the Apple TV before iOS properly detected it and gave me the option to send audio to the device. D'oh!

Plus, there's the lack of support for video clips in Safari and most other apps (besides the stock YouTube App and the iPod App at the moment). So, for now, it's totally NERF'd.

If the get these fixed in the future, I think AirPlay has the chance to be pretty great. I'm interested to know what your experience with AirPlay is like. Has it been good for you?

I just bought my Apple TV today(still don't have it hooked up) and had a question. Does the airplay button not appear in ios until there is compatible hardware? I had been researching the Apple TV and saw airplay controls on the iPad but then when I looked at mine the other day, they were seemingly gone.
