Yes, I got one!

Yes, I really got one! It took a little negotiating, but I was finally able to get my hands on one. So far really loving it, it's faster than any other OQO I've used. It's not a speed demon, but it's not frustratingly slow like the earlier models. I don't know if that would have made a difference -- I think the high price and form factor made it difficult for the OQO to find a place in the market -- but I think we're all a little worse off for these guys having gone out of business.

So any questions about it?

My friend owns one which you guys call +OLED version. His dad worked at the company that made it and he got few other cool gadgets with built in carrier network, stylus, extra acceosories, and functions / custom firmware that wasn't avail. to public. I'm really jealous lol but i get to play with it often.

I'm thinking I might try that when my model 02 arrives sometime this week.

Did you get an OLED one? Ugh I'm so jealous. You and your rare pocket computer. Are you gonna put Windows 7 on it?

Peter, I regret little more than selling my standard model 02 in anticipation of the 02+. How on earth did you wrangle one?

I promised the person who hooked me up that I wouldn't disclose how I got it, apart from the fact that it was legal and no cash changed hands.

Have the LCD version. Would have preferred the OLED version, but I'm not sure how many of those even exist.

Will probably put Windows 7 on there, I also got the dock with the DVD drive that should make that pretty easy.

Might be easier to use a USB key with the Windows 7 installer on it. Quicker too.

I have Win7 on my Model 2 (NOT a +) and it runs pretty well, so I'd figure it'll run nice on that 2+.

I'd love to see a video review of it, esp if you could compare it to a Model 2, side-by-side.

lucky dog. love the form factor, but OLED would have been the hook. how is video playback? and heat?

Video playback is good, though screen res is too low for 1080p. Heat is def an issue, it does run a little hot.

like... iPhone hot? Worse or better?

Edit - not sure why I cared to ask, since I'll *never* buy one, but I guess that's why I would define myself as a gadget addict... never enough money or reason to buy one, but I MUST KNOW NOW HOT IT IS@@!! lol

Is it possible to dual boot on this device?
Would be cool to get a linux distro and do some highly mobile war driving with it!

I have to ask, is it capable of playing any games at all?

IMO

Congrats! Like everyone else I'm jealous. I craved an OQO2+ with the DVD drive stand. Like the other posters I was keen on the OLED version especially.
I'm keen to know about your experience after using it for a week or two.
-Carrying method -jacket pocket or bag etc.
-Whether heat is a big issue with hours of use.
-The programs you run on it, media use, web browsing etc.

I may fly to NY for the gdgt meetup just to see that thing. I have never been able to use an OQO before. Always out of my price range when I was in high school and now I just use smartphones. I know Steve Gibson bought a couple and loves them.

This thing really looks like what netbooks should be to me. If you're going to go that small, might as well go handheld. I don't know actual specs, but when I heard Atom, I assumed it's comparable to an average netbook. I would totally want one of this if it has a decent touch screen, built-in 3G, and works with Multimedia Fusion.

Problem is, every time I hear about one of these things, they are super expensive. At least netbooks are like $300. Weren't these things supposed to be like $800+?

Yeah model 2+ OQO were going for 5-6 grand on ebay. Model 2 go for well over a grand.

Wow, that is sweet! Like several people here, I've always wanted to give one a try. They just seem like what I would consider to be my ideal, ultra mobile pc form factor. Oh well, unfortunately it looks like they'll go the way of the newton. Coveted, championed, but utterly elusive.

Anybody want to pick one up?

Peter is it worth a couple of grand?

Definitely not worth it, esp. for one in poor condition like that and with the slower processor. If I saw one with the 1.8GHz processor AND the OLED I'd think about it.
