Windows Phone 7 music player is now on Android...sort of.

The developer behind Launcher Pro, Federico Carnales, just released an alpha preview of an Android music player that looks pretty much identical to the one you would find on WP7.

Engadget has a video comparing the real deal vs the Android version and it's amazing how similar they are. I just installed it and it's everything you would expect, but a bit buggy (to be expected).

If you want to try it out for yourself, you can find the apk here: https://twitter.com/#!/fedecarnales/status/7136750...

I'm sure this will go over really well in Redmond...

If they're smart, they'll give the developer a Windows Phone "To get the full awesomeness".

I played with this last night. It's very beautiful but the only thing that I don't get is how to go back in the app. Sometimes the back button will work but sometimes it doesn't depending how you get into the app.

I was pleasantly surprised as well when it shows pictures of the artists in the background while a song is playing.

I tried it out and I actually really like. It convinced me that MS should be using the Amazon strategy and spreading their Zune software across as many types of devices as they can. Seeing how well the Android clone works, I would love to see some true integration from MS.

Its become the default music player on my DROID.i hated H-A-T-E-D the stock player on Android & tried many others (Doubletwist was the closest i came to liking before switching back to the default because it played havoc with the audio controls & the metatags). The other good thing that bodes well is that its smooth as silk on my age-old DROID.
Apart from the back button issues, the other thing i noticed was that once you add more songs to your music collection, you HAVE to run the stock player to update the list; this app won't do it.
My suggestion to Microsoft would be to give the dev all the resources he need to convert it into a full blown Zune app with the marketplace / Zune pass & get everyone else to see the advantages of moving to Windows Phone 7
