Windows 7
Go ahead and install Windows 7. It's works very great and has a much more touch friendly than Vista.
All the drivers work out of the box except the media remote, which only required a few button presses to fix. Runs fast on even the slowest processor option.

I have 7, and I agree everything works great, but I find it ridiculous that Windows Media Center touch features only work on multitouch computers.
The AuthenTec driver for the fingerprint reader is useless though, as it fails as soon as you put the laptop to sleep. When you wake it up, it can't be unlocked with your fingerprint. If you then unlock with your password, and then re-lock it, you'll be able to unlock it again with your fingerprint. So stupid.
RTM isn't far off, you would think manafacturers would be getting on with it and sorting out the driver situation.

The other problem I'm having is with USB devices. After inserting and removing several USB devices, Windows has a tendency to complete freeze, no blue screen, no nothing. Does anyone have any idea what causes this?
I thought that was something that I had installed, but yeah, it did that to me when I was flashing the ROM on my phone. I almost soiled myself because having your computer crash while flashing the ROM is a quick way to brick a phone and void the warranty in one step.
I assumed it was something Samsung installed that caused it.

Well, I own no Samsung products. It must be a driver problem of some sort.
Mine was fine on the BETA, but since installing RC1 I randomly keep getting the sound you get when you plug in/unplug a USB device. I can't figure out what's causing it!
Also, on the Beta and RC1 the mute button on the keyboard doesn't go orange when the laptop is in mute, but that's not a biggy.

The sound your getting is from the buggy AuthenTec driver. Disable the power management features on the fingerprint reader. The mute button not workin shouldn't happen, have you installed the HP Quick Launch Button driver package?
Hmm...you could be right there. I got the fingerprint reader working fine in the Beta, but not got round to playing with it yet on RC1, so it probably is that. I'll give it a go tonight. Thanks! :-)
I have installed the Quick Launch Button package. Actually, I installed 2, both different version but none work. The button works fine, it just doesn't go orange when it's on mute. Which version of the driver have you got installed?

Well, I'm now running the RTM version of Windows 7 and I still have my USB issue. I hope a driver update solves this problem.
Crashy USB error. Every now and then I still get this issue. Like I stated before, I've never seen it happen the first time I insert a USB device after a clean boot, but if I insert and remove a USB device enough times, eventually the computer will completely hang, no blue screen, it will just freeze. It doesn't matter which USB port I use, or what device I plug in.
Just in case anyone was following this, DaveWhittingham fixed has solved the crashy issue discuss.gdgt.com/hp/pavilion/tx2500z/tips/Windows-...
