Why Cant Apple make a Full Size Wireless Keyboard?
I use Apple's wireless keyboard on my iMac and I enjoy the small form factor, but miss the full size keyboard sometimes. Why doesnt Apple make the full size wireless? Anyone know?
Generally speaking I wish it was better weighted. It clatters around on my desktop and beyond the substandard feel of the keys, it also ends up feeling cheaper than it is - and I've finally relented and switched back to the wired for my 'super-minimalist' Mac side of my desk area at home. It's just a shame that I have white wires snaking around the desk after having managed to get it very stark-looking. Add me to those who would wish that they would do a wireless wired.

Typically, the wireless keyboards are intended for travel where small size is crucial.
Though I agree, nixing 2 wires with the keyboard and mouse is awesome... most people (including myself in the near future) will likely go back to the wired route for home use after their 10th pack of batteries (and having to run out to the store when you realize you're out of AAs).
Apple probably recognized this with feedback on the huge wireless 1st gen. I can't imagine trying to travel with that thing.

For the most part, sure. With the keyboard angle and no trackpad, this and a wireless mouse makes for a much more comfortable setup (ie. Hotel)
Plus, in tight confines (ie. Plane) it's nice to have the laptop on the tray with the keyboard on your lap.
I agree, for most people it will be pointless... but that's wireless keyboards in general. Wireless mouse' makes sense, but keyboards don't. They really only make sense for travel or gimmickry (that a word?).
You certainly weren't travelling with the 1st gen, and even the 2nd gen USB with the extra buttons I wouldn't be travelling with; and a few wireless keyboards, and 50 batteries later... you just stop buying wireless keyboards for home use.
Full disclosure: I'd love for Apple to make a 2nd gen wireless keyboard with the extra buttons. I do occasionally checked Apples site to see if they changed their minds. But I'm just a sucker for wireless gimmickry, and hardly a profitable target market.

I suppose that they think that it's not as elegant with the number keypad. Maybe it's the old Jobs "less is more" concept! I have no idea, but it's totally illogical. I wish that mine had a number keypad as I work in insolvency - hence a lot of number work!
Well, there's this: www.balmuda.com/en/laboratory/numberkey/
I stumbled across it when I was hunting for a suitable laptop stand, figuring that if I was going to inflict the Jobsian Circlejerk experience - even a ~50% one - on myself, I might as well go the whole hog and go full 'pompous designer'.
It's actually quite compromised in practice like most things Apple-related but it does definitely work. It's a 'dead' app on my iPhones, but who knows... it might work for you.

I presume the keys get just as dirty as do for version 1
but it looks to me likes you can't dissemble them as is possible
