Who just pre-ordered their iPad?

I just pre-ordered mine. Was going to get a 32GB version 3g, but changed my mind and ordered the 64GB Wifi. Sold my iPhone to get this puppy. I hope it's a monster for note taking. I'll wait for Mifi access points to get cheaper. :D Post if you ordered or not and which one you picked.

As sad as it is, I have also ordered a 32GB today. I am so excited. I say it is sad because I live in Canada. I have a brother in law who lives in the states.

So, on April 3rd, I am driving down to "see him"/pick up my new toy.

It is going to be sweet.

Pre-ordered the 64gb WiFi with case. I got the applecare because of 1st gen also.

No 3G because I'm in NY and it really doesn't exist; at least not when you actually need it too.

I was going to pick it up, but then realized they are delivering to my door the same day. I went with deliver to save the hassle.

Just ordered the 32gb + 3G. I wanted to get wi-fi only and save $129 but remembered all the times I've been frustrated being stuck without an internet connection on my laptop or iPod touch. I do have an iPhone 3GS and plan on keeping it but I figured it will likely be a certain amount of hassle to substitute iPhone 3G access for access on the iPad when that's what I want to use.

Was on the fence due to the expense but finally went for it since none of us really know what kinds of use cases will materialize that may benefit from 3G plus the AGPS and my sunk cost is only $129 since I don't get stuck with a cellular contract.

Also, I can imagine using a remote control program of some sort to run things on my Mac at home from my iPad to look things up or file transfer to Drop Box or Mobile Me while away from a full-powered computer.

Got the Apple case for the 3-position capability which I bet is needed for things like typing. Don't care about it as a photo viewer though but maybe other notifications now and down the road. And hoping for widget support in OS 4.

Did not get Applecare. Willing to take my chances and can reconsider once I have it in hand.

64 gig WiFi here for delivery. No AT&T coverage in my area so I'll be using my Verizon MiFi card for access outside of the house.

Reserved the 64B WiFi for in-store pickup and a 64GB WiFi+3G for delivery when it's ready.

Sadly, I cancelled the order on the iPad. I need to buy a house, so that takes priority.

32GB 3G: I got 3G pretty much just for vacations and travel, plus I'm so use to gps on my iPhone I thought I would eventually regret even though I really wanted it on the 3rd lol.

I reserved 32GB Model for Modesto, Ca Apple Store. I live about 4 miles away from my local Apple Store, so i didn't see the need to pre-order to ship to my house when I could just drive down in less than 10 minutes a pick it up myself. Also, every time I use FedEX or UPS, my house is always last on their delivery route.

16 GB Wi-Fi.

If I had more money to throw around, I'd probably spring for the 32 GB 3G but this should be fine. Especially for a v1.

I spoke with an apple rep about the shipping. I was told that with free shipping or expedited shipping, it will arrive on April 3rd. I then asked why the faster shipping was an option and he explained that it's for the 3G model to arrive sooner than the free shipping. The WIFI will arrive on April 3rd no matter which shipping option was picked.

Pre-ordered the 32GB WIFI one with the iPad case

I live in Canada, so I just got a 0gb Apple nothing!

I might try getting one of my friends from the US to ship me one, and I would pay him, but I'm not sure about the warranty. The iPad just looks like it wants to get cracked, and I certainly don't take good enough care fro my School computer (Dell Latitude D630), (ex. I left my bag open, and my laptop fell out, then went down a flight of stairs. It's still alive).

When it does come out up here, I'll get the 32gb WiFi. Just enough memory for a week-long trip, and I can't afford to pay an other plan (let alone the 130$ to get 3G). I just hope that Apple doesn't make it a hundred dollars more in Canada, like they usually do.

16GB. WiFi.

I'm gonna try it out. If I like it, I'll probably get more memory and probably get 3G.

I bought the 64GB 3G model too with the case and external display adapter for presentations. Something strange happened after my purchase though. Apple emailed me to tell me that they removed AppleCare from my purchase because they are not allowed to sell it in my state (Kentucky). Did this happen to anyone else?

I just ordered the 64 GB version for pickup at my local apple store (why April 3rd and not the 2nd?).

I reserved for pickup a 32GB version. The 16GB is too small and not falling into the early adopter trap for the 64GB version. It makes no sense to pre-order an iPad since I live 1/2 mi from the Apple store. I prefer to do the line thing and wait for my shiny new iPad pickup at 9 am.

I will be getting the keyboard dock and case from Apple as well. If I like the iPad a lot, I may return and upgrade to the 3G version when it comes out.

I am with you on the excitement of standing in line. But, there is not an Apple store in my state. The nearest is a three hour drive Yes, I live in the sticks.

32 wifi.

With is the prefect size for me. It is not too big and not too small. I will likely never use anything above 32gb. If I get close, then it will likely be time to get a new device anyway.

I wanted to reserve one at my local apple store, but I could figure-out how to do that online, or if it could be done so I just ended up ordering one to be shipped to my work. I thought about having it shipped home, but I saw that there was a signature required...

I am guess with the free standard shipping they will be arriving around Monday April 5th or Tuesday the 6th.

With everyone talking about how they pre-ordered their's it is becoming more tempting to give in. Told myself I would wait for the Notion Ink Adam though, and with all of this HTC (i.e. Android) lawsuit business going on I am remiss to give Apple any of my money at the moment. I will have to play with one when they hit stores... hopefully that will reassure my position on not buying one. Now to sit and wait patiently for the Adam.

Got the 16GB Wifi only. I barely use the 16GB on my iPhone, and will stream everything anyway.

Although when I ordered, I couldn't see the in-store pickup link so I just got shipping. (I'm right outside Washington, DC) so am hoping there is Saturday delivery.

Just ordered the iPad 64GB Wi-Fi no case yet since I want to check out the 3rd party ones. Might end up getting the 3G one in May and giving the Wi-Fi one to my mom to replace the netbook that I got her last year.

Just reserved the 64 WiFi (going to use MiFi when on the road)

BTW if you pre order from appple.com you have to pay now and they ship it to you (hopefully get it on the 3rd, its not raining, and your local driver treats it right)...

If you pre-order on apple.com/retail you can reserve for pick up at your local store, pay later at pick up, and will get it in the morning while others are still waiting.

I just tried to find my store on that apple.com/retail page. Apple doesn't think New York is a state it seems.. keeps asking for me to select a state.

Oh well, here's to hoping UPS comes through for me.

64gb WiFi-only along with the dock.

Not the weird keyboard one, just the standard dock.

I have an Apple BT Keyboard, so I'll be using that with it.

I'm waiting to see what the other case offerings will be. Apple's case seems a little sparse on features, and I have a feeling that a big, silicone case on the iPad will look like a poorly fitting condom.

I waited on the case too - I want to see what Incase comes out with. I'm always impressed with their products.

I also have the BT keyboard.. nice to know we'll be able to use it with the device.

Went whole hog & ordered the 64GB+3G model. I now have 6 weeks to work the OT to pay for it :)

My question is - should I get applecare on this thing? It's $99.

I didn't get apple care for my iphone and it came back to bite me the other day when they wouldn't replace the glass after some debris got in underneath it.

My solution is to buy a cover/screen shield for my iPad.. but having applecare is nice when that random repair comes along.
flag this
brandonpapworth
You don't need to get Applecare now. You can get it any time during the warranty of the device.

I didn't get it on mine, and I don't plan on getting it. The only damage I can see my iPad receiving is cosmetic and possible screen cracking. If the latter occurs, that isn't covered under Applecare, anyway. So, it wouldn't benefit me. Also, I tend to upgrade my electronics at a pretty swift rate, again making an extended warranty seem like a not-so-great option for me.

It's really up to you.

Just got the 16GB WiFi. I don't see needing more space (using it to take notes in class) and I didn't want 3g because out here in New York, AT&T 3g means you still have to look for a wifi connection to do anything that requires a data connection (oh! zing!)

I was going to try for in store pickup but could not find out where to do it. I found this page: pin.fm/Q9YT but it seems like apple's script is broken.. can't reserve one at my local store.

@AggroDude.. I wish I was back home in Palo Alto and could do what you did.. but no, I'm at university.. sucks.

I ordered mine for delivery and paid the extra shipping. Might be lucky and get it early depending how it goes with shipping. Can't really go to the store and pick it up. My wife's having a baby soon. Also, the store by me smells horrible, you can check my other post for more detail about that,

I've definitely thought about it, but haven't been able to commit to putting it on my Want list, let alone actually plunk down cash for one.

I can certainly think of a few reasons I'd want to get one -- and at some point I'll need to spend time with one so I can talk about it on the podcast -- but just doesn't feel critical to own one yet. Maybe that'll change, or maybe in a few weeks I'll just splurge and get one, but I'm not going to pre-order one today.
