Who is part of the first wave of pre-orders?

Just wanted to see who else is getting their nook for the November 30th shipping date? Excited? At first do you plan on buying ebooks or loading with your own pdf's?

If there's any must have accessories, which ones would you pick?

I have had my nook about a week. I have decided to get rid of it. Why? There is a show stopper problem with ordering books. I have ordered books with no problem, but two books now download to nook but WILL NOT OPEN without entering my name and credit card number. AND, this process does not work, it keeps failing. It will not let me read the book until this process is complete. I thought this might be a problem with corrupted content, but It actually says in the nook manual that this credit card process may be necessary to unlock the book.

This is ABSOLUTELY UNNECESSARY. The nook is registered and linked to my B&N online account with credit card, when I buy a book it should download instantly with no input required on my part, especially credit card info.
if there must be DRM locking/unlocking on a book it should be done by B&N transparent to the customer. This is lousy system design.

FWIW...Amazon NEVER did this to me with my Kindle.

I ordered November 10th, and mine is supposed to ship tomorrow (technically today). I'm crossing my fingers.

Yea it worked out pretty good. The email they sent me said I get it by the 9th. Also, with the $10 gift card they let me apply it to some accessories I already ordered and credited my card the $10. Customer service said they are all shipping this week and next week for this wave, and said the demand was enormous. They gave the $10 credit to 900,000 orders. That's 9 million in credit given out!

I ordered the first day it was released. I received an email from B&N today telling me that I would have my Nook on or before the 14th of December. In addition they gave me a $10 gift card for my patience :)

Got it on the day it was released. Will get it a few days after November 30th. Very excited because it is the best one so far with two screens. My first ebook reader!

Yeah I know. I'll have to do something creative on Christmas day. But this is what she wants. Very cool! Didn't know it is Android based.

Thanks for your input rutter. Happy Thanksgiving!

There's just something about the Kindle that doesn't appeal to me. I can't really explain why. Sometimes I just don't like something for no good reason at all.

I got the nook because I wanted one that's touchscreen, but not over top of the e-ink(lessens the display quality) Also, it's android based, so it might be able to get rooted at some point. Plus it runs off of AT&T and not sprint(better service in my area)

If you want to get her one for Christmas you will have to look on ebay in December. They are sold old until 2010.

My wife wants an e-book reader. However, I have been researching the comparisons between the Nook, Kindle, and Sony Reader Daily Edition.

So far I have it down to the Kindle and Nook mainly due to the Sony is a bit too pricey.

I like what the Nook has to offer and will most likely make that purchase tomorrow. Those of you who have pre-ordered.

What was your main choice for going with the Nook?

Yea it's still Nov 30th ship date for us. I emailed to double check and they said all orders before Oct 27th will be shipped as previously stated upon ordering. I am about 90% sure I will keep it though.. been wanting an e-reader for years now and finally took the plunge.

I pre-ordered on the earliest date possible. I haven't checked lately to see if there has been an estimated delivery date yet but I'll check soon.

I ordered the device plus one of the leather cases (don't remember which one). I'm probably going to test it out with a short non-fiction at first. This way I can tell whether it's worth keeping quickly. If I'm not satisfied (within the first few days) I'll likely eBay it and hopefully turn a profit :)
