What OS do you run on your Mini 9?
I've been dual booting the stock Windows XP and LinuxMint 6 for some time. Very happy with performance, but I am a bit bored and looking for a change. Considered the hackintosh route, but don't really want to invest in a runcore ssd right now. So what's everybody running on their mini and how do you like it?
I'm running MacOSX and it's totally solid and super fast. BTW, I found a 2GB RAM/32GB SSD kit on eBay for $95 which really sped up the OS. Here's a link to the latest instructions for installing MacOSX on the Mini 9: www.mydellmini.com/forum/mac-os-x-guides/3743-how-...
I too run Leopard with a 32gb SSD (Runcore) and 2gb of RAM. It's a great little computer (wish mine had bluetooth built in so I didnt have to use a dongle) and is wonderful for mac users constantly on the go.
Though running OSX does seem to make it run a bit hotter than it did when I tried with XP or Ubuntu.

Using a bluetooth dongle makes mine misbehave; random crashes, stalled start up. Could be the cheap dongle, though: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=22...
Running OS X 10.5.7 on a 16GB drive with 1GB of RAM. Not bad. Good enough to ditch the Macbook for now.... for now.
I have two Dell Mini 9's. I run OS X on one and Windows 7 RC on the other. Both operating systems work great. I'm a huge Apple fan, but Windows 7 is looking very sexy and runs great on the Mini. Video quality is marginally OK on both Mini's. I use the OS X Mini more than the w7 Mini.
Ubuntu 9.04 -- I love it! XP was way too slow on this machine for me, even with 2GB.
I am OX 10.5.6 with only an 8GB , but it is plenty of space for me. I basically just use it as a checkbook (Quicken), documents for work (NeoOffice or Google docs), and surfing the Web (Camino).
All of my data files I store to a SD card. I have an iMac and another laptop so I definately wouldn't use this hackintosh netbook as a primary Mac system.

Ubuntu... whatever version Dell shipped with it. Runs decent, good battery life. Used it on a recent road trip for video and light internet use with no issues (Good lord, I'd hope not!).
2GB / 32GB
Anyone played around with Moblin?

i am running unr and so far so good i can't complain about the results that i am getting
I'm running a significantly pared down version of os x 10.5.6 that fits on the 8gb ssd with almost 2gb to spare. works wonderfully! i have no problems worth mentioning, the crew over at mydellmini.com put together great tutorials, easy install.
Hackintoshed with 10.5.7. 32GB SSD/ 1GB RAM. Got it for my kids, and they love it.
Although for some reason, when they goto the webkinz site, the site's resolution is bigger than the mini's screen and doesn't let them scroll, so part of the bottom of the screen is cut off.

Windows 7 RC, 2gb Runcore 32GB SSD. Super fast with the upgraded SSD.
OSX Leopard, 2 GB RAM, 64 GB SSD (from Dell), Bluetooth, Wifi b/g, 0.3 MP webcam—I get about 4.5 hours with wifi turned on, browsing the web. Watching HD from the web stutters too much, but Plex runs great with the Hulu plugin, and Hulu.com runs fine as long as you keep it in 360p mode. YouTube works fine too, but don't even bother trying the HD button. All-in-all, it's a great secondary laptop, especially for traveling, catching up on some eBook reading on the train, or showing off photos. I keep mine in one of those small paper notebook attaché's and most people don't even realize there is a laptop in there until I take it out. I paid just under $400 for it, and I must say that I feel that this was a great investment. Dell has apparently discontinued it, but I was able to buy another one in the form of the Vostra A90. The A90 is exactly the same laptop, but all black, including the inside (very slick looking).
Monday is the last day to get the Mini 9 on sale starting at $199. Just picked one up for $312.44 with tax and shipping. I ordered the Dell Mini 9 with Unbuntu, 1.3MP camera ($10) and 16GB drive ($75). I will be attempting to put OS X on it, hope they didn't change anything that will prevent putting OS X on it.
