What Condition Is Yours In?
After 3 years, my DS Lite is still going strong. The only issue is the stylus holder has become worn and doesn't grip the stylus or keep it in the receptacle anymore. No biggie

Let's see, got my white one at launch and:
Shoulder buttons are now mostly decorative. (probably just dirty).
Screens are great.
Left hinge is cracked.
Every corner is dented or cracked.
Dirt in all the seams.
Stickers are worn and peeling off.
Stylus holder worn.
Styli lost: a lot.
It could do with a complete case replacement, but other than that it works just as fine as ever.

I got mine about a year and a half ago after having an old Phat since launch, and the screen is still pretty much perfect, can't say the same for the rest, but the only damage is in scratches to be honest. The stylus holder is also loose, but I don't know if that could be because the stylus is damaged in someway or something..
It still works, though the casing is more than a little beat-up, in fact there was a minor drunken altercation just the other week that caused the right hinge to 'remove' itself from the main body.
So no more DS on my way to work I guess. I was considering a DSi at some point in the near future anyway.

I got mine about a year or two ago, and it's in near mint condition. There's maybe a smidgen of dirt here and there, but overall it works like a charm and look and feels just like its supposed to. I hope that good games keep coming out for it even with the large amount of DSi's out there.
Various scratches that don't really cause issues, loose stylus holder, small crack on hinge. I tried to see if the hinge crack was covered but the Nintendo rep I talked to from my description wanted me to pay $75. But really, not like the crack does anything anyways. Solid device.
I bought the Onyx DS Lite as soon as it came out and it still looks nearly mint condition. Only one tiny scratch on the outside which is nearly invisible. The screens are perfect, even though I never used a screen protector. I like keeping my gadgets looking brand new for as long as possible so I'm always super careful with it (keep it in a case when carrying it around, clean only with a microfiber cloth, etc.).
my DS lite's L and R buttons keep going out. particularly the L button. i know its an issue with the dust, but if it is, then boy it is reeeeally dusty cause it shorts all the time. what kind of screw driver do you need to open it cause they don't look like any i've seen...

Mine is 2 years old and the top screen doesn't work if I open it all the way, turns all white. probably a loose wire. :( The hinges cracked and broke looong ago.
I does still work great as a GBA game machine though~!

My DS was working great until yesterday, it shut off by itself(fully charged) and now when I turn it on, the bottom screen flashes white and turns itself off. anyone know what i should do?
I got the Zelda edition one too.

Near mint condition. I keep mine in a case. No screen or any protection on it.
Mine is working great, I have one of the Special Edition Red Ones, Before They Made It a Mainstream Color. It's wonderful.
After almost two years, mine has been on a road trip from Florida to Tennessee and back again without any glitches or complications. I keep my DS Lite in a silicon pink skin and have not lost a stylus yet! As a result, my DS feels just as shiny and new as the day I tore it out of its gift-wrapped box.
Have had mine for a year and a half and it is in almost the same condition as when I got it. It has not had "heavy" use, but my wife and I have put it through its paces during several long stays in the hospital our daughter and it really helped to pass the time. Just sucks that it only supports WEP for online gaming.....
I got mine since it came out. First thing i did was get screen protectors and a protective case (b/c of kids). The case is scratched up and worn down but looks like new with out it. Luckily i havent had to replace the battery. Still keeps a good charge.
= Hinge crack - Sent it in for warranty repair. Been intact since.
= Touch screen is not smooth. (Thanks Elite Beat Agents! Good game.)
= Touch screen is woefully uncalibrated and will not calibrate. (Try playing Trauma Center with that!)
= Stylus holder loose.
Yet probably the most played console I've own. It's been good to me =)

I dropped my on asphalt once, and it scratched a corner....
More importantly, the L button no longer works/registers. I'm ordering screwdrivers from DX to open it up and hopefully fix it.
People don't use screen protectors?!?!? Isn't your touch screen in horrible condition then.....?

Mine is in great condition, I thought after a while the bottom screen would start showing some wear but it looks as good as the day I bought it =)
Mines a black one! Ive had it a few months now and its still in great condition, though smudges really easily but no scratches!
Mines a bit under 2 years old and now the touch screen won't calibrate anymore and is out of calibration enough to be useless. It works fine though for non-touch screen games...
My R button began sticking after a while - same problem happened with the original DS. Hopefully my new DSi doesn't repeat the problem :(
