What are you most looking forward to at CES?
The Consumer Electronics Show 2013, aka CES, is one week away! It officially starts January 8, but the announcements should be coming fast and furious over the next week, especially on Sunday with CES Unveiled. In fact, the madness has already started, with companies like LG giving us all sneak peeks of what they'll be showing off on the show floor.
So, what do we have to look forward to? Well, one thing we won't have is a Microsoft keynote, an honor they've held for the past 15 years. In fact, they won't be at the show at all. This is probably a sign of the decline of CES in general—with so many other shows vying for attention throughout the year, and so many other ways for companies to get information about their products out, a big encompassing show like CES just isn't that necessary anymore.
However, despite what may happen in the future, CES is still a big deal, and we at gdgt will be on top of all the latest news, adding the newest products to our database and making sure we're the best place to go to make your gadget buying decisions for 2013!

Also be sure to check the front page, as we'll be showing off some of the notable product announcements there (as well as on Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, and Pinterest)!

This feels like the least anticipated CES to date. I am not expecting any company to show off anything that really wows us. What's left that hasn't been done yet? Wearable phone accessories... but it feels like we are a few years out on that being viable yet. And even though Microsoft won't be there, I would bet at least 50% of all show floor devices will be one weird and not exactly usable form factor or another of Windows 8 machines. I hope something interesting does happen, but I won't be placing any bets on it.
I'm looking forward to seeing how companies will continue to integrate and advance what we currently have versus trying to just give us something brand new. I look at what Microsoft showed off at E3 last year as example of this. While gamers weren't impressed I felt that Microsoft took something popular and added more to the platform making it that, a platform.
Don't get me wrong I'm excited for whatever new stuff comes out but I'd like to have companies start building for long term over shorter product cycles. We have some pretty powerful technology in our hands that shouldn't be made to feel old just because it's a new year.

Honestly, I am still wanting to see more of this laptop. I don't think it has surfaced since IFA

Don't really care. I'm more excited for E3. Is anything exciting supposed to be unveiled at CES? I'm usually aware of the hot products that matter and between Apple launches, E3 and TGS E3 has more big players not showing their best stuff than vice versa.
Maybe the Microsoft Surface? Oh wait, there's not Microsoft keynote this year....yeah nvm.
I really want a NAS, Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 compatible budget friendly and durable external hard drive, but that really doesn't sound like something to get people amped up about.
