What about e-Sata adapter?

A lot of Pro Mac users have external hard drives connected with e-Sata port. When Apple introduced the SD card slot a lot of pros were sad because the ExpressCard/34 was better, in fact in the late MacBook Pro of 2008 you can use the new e-Sata or USB 3.0 Cards to expand connections and this is not possible for the younger versions of MacBook Pros. I would like an e-Sata adapter because is quite faster than Firewire 800. I know, Firewire is proprietary of Apple but an adapter may be done. What do you think about it?

3 main reasons:
  1. The e-sata bus can achieve speeds of 300MB/s, Thunderbolt does 1250MB/s
  2. There are so few e-sata drives on the market when compared with firewire or USB 3.0
  3. Also, if Appe provided an e-sata option it would undermine everything they worked towards with Thunderbolt.
