Weird noise and playback controls don't work

I mean, not that I expected the phone/playback controls to work when I got my iPhone 3G S, but I was hoping lol. Callers have said they hear a weird high pitched noise when I use the headphones to answer a call. Oh well...guess it's time to use that bluetooth earpiece I've stashed away :(

I really like the the Vibe Duo's, however I am having to purchase these or something else again, since they have only lasted less than years with very little use and having to have them replaced once under warranty.

I do not mind paying $100 - $200 for a good set of ear buds, but I really expect for that amount of money they should hold up better than the cheap ones that I use for backup when the good ones fail.

The Etymotics that I once owned did not hold up any better.

If anyone has any suggestions on a better pair, let me know.

Personally, I'm on my 5th pair. After sending the second one back (under warranty), I told them I wouldn't pay shipping anymore. Now, every time they do break (always within about 6 months), they send me a new pair.

I guess that works out, I just go without my nicer pair of headphones for a week or two when they break. But I really do wish I had spent my money on a different pair to begin with :(

This is my second post talking up the head direct RE2's, I promise I don't work for the company! I have the V Moda Vibes, and I really enjoyed them for quite a while and thought that for $100, these were the best I could get (I heard the Etys had better highs, but the Vibes were a more "fun" headphone). Then I got into the research and after reading quite a bit on Head-fi.org, people kept on recommending the RE2. These sound great compared to the Vibe, and many say they prefer it to the Er6i. The bass isn't quite as strong, but it's a lot cleaner and punchier. Highs are clearer and overall, it's a great sounding headphone. The RE2 have the Vibes beat in every category to my ear. Someone did a review and said they were a great deal at $120, a steal at $80, and now they are $40 from the head direct website.

I have had my Vibe duo's for about a year and haven't had any problems with them. They seem to hold up really well and work great with my iphone 3g. The only complaint that I have is that I thought the cord was going to be fabric coated, and it is plastic coated. The cord seems "stiff" and doesn't hang as comfortably as I would like.
Other than that, I think these are great headphones and do a great job of being a "hands free" talking device when I am in my car.

I as well had my Vidbe Duo headset for about a year and it has never failed me -- until I got caught in a nasty rainstorm, not noticing that the mic unit with the control buttons was dangling out my jacket…! From that day on I had problems pausing music or making calls through the mic button and people started complaining about bad sound quality when I was talking to them over the Vibe's microphone…

So that was kind of my fault but I contacted the people at V-Moda through their website (since I'm in Germany that seemed to be the only option) and described my problem and also had to tell them that I didn't have a purchase receipt because the headset had been a gift -- and less than 15 minutes later I received the following message:
"We'll be more than happy to send you a replacement. Please send us the defective headphones along with the warranty form (e-mail) to the address provided in the e-mail. No need to worry about a proof of purchase since they were given to you as a gift. If you have any questions, please let us know."

Wow, that was better customer service than I had expected…! I sent them my faulty Vibe Duo headset and about 2 weeks later I had a brand new replacement set waiting for me in the mailbox…! :)

So I guess your mileage may vary, but I have so far been really satisfied with the V-Moda product and also with their great customer service and will definitely continue using them…! At least until some company finally releases an A2DP compatible Bluetooth stereo headset that actually works with the iPhone…

I just purchased the Vibe Duo's and to my surprise the controls for playback, skip, back, AND VOICE CONTROL do work! Im impressed, they sound great however this is my first pair of ear buds that I have ever used other than the white ones that came with the iPhone!

hmm odd one. my vibe duos work with my 3GS but you have to make sure they're plugged in all the way for the controls to work. the first time i plugged them into my 3GS they didn't work and the voice control kept activating, but it turned out that the headphones weren't plugged in all the way.

I've had these for probably nearly two years now, originally used them with iPhone 2G and now 3G. only complaint is that the sheath that covers the 3.5mm jack plug has come loose so when pulling them out of the socket I end up first sliding the sheath of and then having to grab the bare plug underneath with my fingers...

great sound though!
