very poor quality of device and service Nokia n97

I bought this device (Nokia N97) this summer and used it only for couple of months - the main switch unlocking the phone has been broken and i took the phone to a local authorised Nokia service provider where it stays for the moment due to lack of spare parts (almost a month ) . Being the happy owner of several Nokia phones I have to admit that the so called leader of the cellular market is delivering to the market raw products, not providing enough spare parts and can not organize efficient guarantee service.

I was quite satisfied with the phone itself after updating firmware, but paying a grand for a couple of months of using it - is too much !

There is a learning curve with the N97 especially if your a windows mobile user like my last phone was. I agree the firm ware update is essential and nokia really should have tested the device more thoroughly before releasing it. Mine malfunctioned at start up on several occasions simply hanging. unlocking the phone when you get calls sometimes hangs the phone for a few seconds and needs multiple try's which often means you miss the call. The phone does have a great camera and it's internet capabilities are the best I have seen in a mobile device. All in all it is a good phone with a lot of potential and shows the way of future devices In this area,I believe. But being one of the first "portable computers" as Nokia likes to call it, it has had it's fair share of teething problems.

you we windows based phone user , but i had a bunch of nokias before which worked flawlessly. N97 is not the first so called computer , n95 was the first (I also own it) it has more capabilities with video processing, more stabile software. But it does not have qwerty keyboard and fm transmitter - that is why i bought n97 and i am dissapointed- I do not want to be a beta tester !

Subotin your pain is shared by a lot of n97 owners. Nokia have continued to update the firmware and software and with 2.0 its a very different device. If you have not, I suggest you upgrade asap.

Regarding the hardware issues; the devices has a number of build issues which is rare for a Nokia device and have been providing free service for a few months now (they will replace the camera module and back cover + whatever in warranty issues you are experiencing).

Try www.nokiausa.com/get-support-and-software/repair-a... to locate a nokia care center near you. You have to send the device in and it takes about 10 days to get it back - depending on your location.

I would suggest you check out symbian-guru for better info and help. Gl :)
