Hey guys, just joined the site. I have the D150 and I've done a whole lot of upgrades to it. So far I've added a 12 cell battery, 2gb of ram, a touch screen, and 802.11n, also windows 7 on my main drive and iAtkos on the original that came with the D150. I just bought and put in the OCZ Vertex 128gb SSD and I have to say, if you're thinking about this, think again. It's really a useless upgrade on the atom n270, in the Windows 7 performance test the hard drive scored a 7.1 (almost perfect) yet the difference I noticed was negligible. I'm not upset I purchased it, I'll be shopping around for a new notebook come Black Friday so I can just toss it into a speedier book, but if you're thinking this will vastly improve your D150's performance, save yourself the $430.
Anyway, I'm putting this up to see if anyone has done any real technical mods and what their experiences have been with them. I'm specifically looking for internal bluetooth or GPS and upgraded internal speakers. If anyone has done this and wants to let me know the work involved - worth it, not worth it - that'd be great. Thanks guys, later.
Discussion about
Upgrades
The ssd is great, 7.1 out of 7.9 on the Windows 7 experience index. The problem on my netbook is, it scores a 2.1 on graphics, a 3.0 on gaming graphics, and a 2.3 on processor. So even with 2GB of ram, the performance boost isn't really that noticeable. I am planning to buy a core i7 notebook soon, and putting this in that. If you have a notebook, I'd definitely go grab one. But the netbook specs just can't really do much for it. It's like the opposite of a bottleneck.
