Discussion about
UK Carriers specifically Orange UK
3 have got it along with a reputation for bad signal, I personally have never had a problem. Their data coverage is wider than anyone else's however (fact), and lets face it, that is what you are buying this phone for, am I right?
I have a lot of time for 3, they often work out to be the cheapest if data is what you're interested in...however I could never use 3 for my main contract. The coverage is absolutely shocking! I frequently get zero signal when either an 02 or vodafone sits happily with 5 bars. Come on mr 3.

Went into an Orange store last week and they said they were still 'testing' the N97 and should be out later in the month. Also went to the 3 store and they has one in stock and let me play with it but not sure it was the best deal and the guy sent me to phones4u down the road to talk to them.
The web site dialphone.co.uk (a division of Phones4U) seemed to have good deals for both Orange and Vodaphone so may be work a look.

Yeh thats one thing i dont really understand. So i rang up and that story fits, the guy i spoke to said orange are still tsting the device. Fair enough. BUT if i get it through dialaphone or phones 4 u on the Orange network, how do they have the handset on orange or do they not and i would still have to wait through them??
Oh and the reason i want to stick with orange is because i can get some discount on the line rental with them, otherwise i agree with a previous poster and would switch to vodaphone, their 12 month deals on dialaphone are best around i think if you want a short contract.

I think that 3rd party suppliers like carphone w/h and Phones4u can supply a unbranded GSM handset and then a sim card separately. This means you get the handset as soon as it is on the market on the network you want, but before the operators cripple it with their own version of the OS. The third party sellers recoup the money they shelled out for the handset from Nokia with the commission they get for selling you a 24m £45 contract. And their own insurance of course!
