My wife has the Eris and loved it until about 2-3 months ago. Was having so many lag and restart issues that she finally let me root the damned thing and upgrade it to 2.2. It's been a lot smoother since then have you considered going that route?

I have yet to try it. What can I say? That phone just does not motivate to interact with it. I get the feeling that it is going to be a nightmare just like everything is with that phone.
