This new gaming headset is just amazing: 7.1 surround sound, programmable keys, etc. And it is very comfortable.

Only bummer: it does not have any MacOS drivers yet. Any information about the ETA of these would be most appreciated.

Drivers, yeesh, hard to believe anyone would skip that nowadays.

I use Astros connected to my home theater; haven't actually tried connecting them to PC, but I do like that they can take any generic audio input or output and don't require USB (and thus drivers).

I agree, most bizarre. Because of the programmable keys on the headset, and the fact that you can interface with Ventrilo and a bunch of games, I don't think that they can avoid the direct interface with the OS.
A must for gamers, though the quality of the music is pretty awesome too.

I actually wanted a USB headset. I don't have any headphone jacks on the front of my computer, so switching between headset and speakers is annoying unless your soundcard's software lets you choose between them.

Also, with USB you don't get any of the computer noise that a headphone jack might get if your case is designed poorly and puts the jack next to something like a hard drive bay.

Lastly, USB gives you better control from the headset its self. I've customized the buttons on my headset to control my Zune software (I watch a lot of video podcasts). I also like that it has a volume wheel on the headset that will only adjust the volume for the headset, so that when I'm playing things loudly through the headset, then disconnect them, I'm not getting blasted by my computer speakers because they're still at their previous volume.

I can't defend a lack of Mac drivers, though.

From what I've read, they will work as basic headphones in os x without drivers. You don't get the custom buttons etc.. though.

Logitech says they don't intend to make mac drivers for this model.
