This keyboard started out well for me, but unfortunately didn't last longer than 6 months before keys started breaking and becoming unresponsive.

Did you end up using it for a lot of gaming and did it help?

I saw this in person at a Logitech event and it looked kind of nifty, but the build quality seemed kind of dubious.

Yeah while I used it I was gaming on it pretty extensively. Ironically enough, it broke while I was gaming. The dubious quality of construction you mentioned in pretty much spot on.

As for whether or not it helped, it was about what you suspect. It wasn't a huge help, but it was obvious that it was designed with gaming in mind.
