They took too long

Almost two years after announcing it they still haven't released. I think they gave everyone else enough time to design and release competing products. Maybe Arrington should have kept it under wraps a while longer?

Right now nobody would choose this product over the Ipad. The only option they have is to lower the price to their original $200 price point. I don't see the point of even releasing it otherwise.

The making of this product would make for a great book. It's both a farce and a tragedy.

Do you mean Mr. Arlington designing the box? You know he doesn't charge, he only gives you $ if you push the button on the box. And all competetors are dead.

I don't know that it is necessarily dead, but it won't have the same impact it would have 2 years ago. If they can get it to market I am quite sure it will carve out some portion of the market, even if it isn't significant in terms of percentage. Personally I wouldn't buy it, but I think it looks like a great product and would love to get hands on with one.

They definitely took longer than would have been ideal for them, but I don't think it would have made much of a difference.

In many ways, the JooJoo is still a superior product than the iPad (in terms of actually browsing the web and watching video), but no one cares. It can play HD Hulu and YouTube video and it has a higher-res screen with a better aspect ratio, but no one cares.

A huge factor behind these devices is marketing - especially when you are trying to create a market (the web tablet market). I just don't think JooJoo has the capability to market this device whatsoever - if they launched it six months ago, no normal people would have ever heard about it, but now they are trying to ride the iPad marketing and they are doing a pretty good job. Select enthusiasts realize that for the simple tasks of web browsing and watching video, the JooJoo beats the crap out of the iPad, but the mainstream market just wants their iTunes and the satsifaction of buying a new fancy Apple product (go marketing!).

Succinctly put. I just wonder if there's enough space for it in the also-rans category. I'll most likely be buying an iPad since an oversize iPod Touch is something I've wanted for a long time. The Joojoo is different enough to me to hold an interest - but honestly, even I find myself wondering what actual use I'll find for it beyond iPad levels.

I would like to test out a JooJoo and iPad but I don't think there will be anywhere to test the JooJoo. They should partner with Fry's or Altex or something. Sadly, I don't believe Wal-Mart or Best Buy would be interested in them..

I don't think they will sell enough units to be able to pay for engineering, design and manufacturing costs. But that's just speculation. They might as well be able to do so. I guess we'll see.
