They messed this up...

This is plainly an updated VX Nano - but they took out one of the best features of the Nano, the index finger back/forward buttons. Why? It makes no sense. The index finger buttons were much more comfortable to use on a tiny mouse like this, and it made it so that left- or right-handed users could enjoy the mouse.

If they really wanted to add side buttons, why didn't they just keep the top buttons? Is 4 buttons really too many for a mobile mouse?

This would have been the perfect travel mouse, IMO, if they had just kept the top buttons.

I'm pretty sure the side buttons are just a matter of personal preference. The fact of the matter is that most mice have the forward/backward buttons on the side so I would assume it is more popular. I've used index finger buttons before on the Razer Naga and although they are good, I believe they'd be harder to use on a small mobile mouse. And yes, four buttons on the same side is too many buttons for a mobile mouse.

I disagree. Having the two buttons on top is objectively better, because it gives lefties an option. Plus, I disagree that four buttons is somehow too many. There are plenty of four-buttoned mice.

Although I didn't think of it at the time, it would also make more sense to have made the scroll wheel analog, like the other mice released at the time.

My Razer Orochi has four buttons as well but they are on opposite sides, not all on the left side. On a portable laptop mouse, four buttons is aesthetically incorrect and too cramped.

Personally, I like thumb buttons more.
