The Verge reviews??

Definitely not trying to start trouble or any kind of issues, but it just seems odd to me that The Verge's reviews aren't included in the aggregate. It seems like it might be personal. If it is, I understand. Don't need to get into all the specifics. I just think there's some value in having as many of the elite tech opinions in the aggregate as possible. I really love reading the stuff from Walt Mossberg, Tim and others from Engadget and other sites included in the aggregate. But it's just really odd to me that The Verge is very conspicuously missing.

Regardless, I love the site (gdgt) and I find that the community is always able to give me more information about potential purchases. Between this info and Amazon reviews, I've been kept from making some big mistakes!

Thanks!

Agree and disagree. I agree that The Verge reviews should be included and disagree that there is any good reason they're not. Even if it is personal, when I come to gdgt to get a list of all the reviews of a product and every decent review should be included. The Verge writes good reviews.

TheoC - Well, I agree AND agree with you. :-). I was trying to be a bit classy about it because I'm not sure if you know, but I am pretty sure that Peter and Ryan hired all those guys at The Verge. They left Engadget for their own reasons and they're doing something great. I can understand if there's something personal affecting Peter and Ryan that would lead them to not want to include the reviews.....kinda. The other fact is that there's a feature on the Verge that is very similar to the product comparison engine on gdgt.

Truthfully I don't know what's driving the fact that the reviews aren't here. I suspect it's something personal, and hey, it's their site and I completely understand if there's something that we just aren't aware of that's behind the absence. But The Verge is definitely an incredible source of information in tech and it's really conspicuous that the reviews aren't here. I don't want to rehash old wounds. I searched the forums to try and see if there was a post that I missed, because I'm sure there's some pain there. But I just want to understand what the rationale is behind them not being included.

There's nothing personal, conspicuous, etc. about it. I recently answered this question on Reddit, though: www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/10tnta/im_ryan_bloc...

> "With gdgt's critic reviews, we accept requests to be listed from any site or publication, and many publications we didn't carry reviews for early on are now in there. (Likewise, any publication who does not want to be listed in our reviews can opt out.) The Verge hasn't shown any interest in working with us, and they've never requested to have their reviews in gdgt."

Thanks for clarifying Ryan.

I'm going to say what Ryan and Peter are probably too classy to say. NOTE: I have NO inside knowledge and this is not anyone's view but mine. Peter and Ryan are pioneers in tech reporting. They were covering gadgets before it was a 'thing'. I would hope that The Verge would have reached out to them as they have been instrumental in the careers of many of those writers. I'm disappointed that The Verge hasn't supported this effort more.

I will say that I am enthusiastic about gadgets as much as I am on the strength of the efforts of Peter and Ryan and I will support gdgt and whatever future projects they are involved in.
