Loogie

The PlaySport Zx3 handles the chores I bought it for but it still has a few shortcomings. The camera is a really nice size.

If fits easily in my pocket and is always at the ready for a quick video shot.
The pluses: GREAT picture (if the camera is relatively still), waterproof (we've had some fun with that), takes 5MP stills as well, it's rugged enough for me to let my three and five year-olds run around the house with it and shoot video and take pictures - which they love.
The Minuses: The zoom ratio in video mode is a bit too zoomed in for me. Most of the time I find that I want to zoom out more but I can't. It's great for shooting people if they are ten feet away, but if they are three feet away you're going to be frustrated. The image stabilization is only OK. It can't handle much rough movement at all. If the a large part of the frame is moving at once (think about a panning shot) then you will get a frame sheeting effect on the screen. It seems like the camera's compression can't keep up with that much of a change in scene. This is particularly noticeable if you are film a sporting event where the people are far away but you are still panning around.
