The one thing I dislike most about this trackball is the wheel. It squeaks as if it was not given enough clearance or lubricant.

Maybe it's old stock. Shouldn't squeak. Try contacting Logitech.

I did actually, and have been through two of these. The wheel only starts to squeak whenever there is a lot of scrolling involved, and for me that's when I read Google Reader :)...

Did that. Got it replaced, and no squeaky squeak! :)
