The DoJ are now investigating whether or not Apple is abusing it's position at the top of the digital music ladder, but isn't it the music industry…

that put them there in the first place by anointing the iPod and iTunes are their own personal saviour? Now Steve Jobs appears to be slapping the record labels around with demands for exclusivity on certain tracks, but the labels are still sticking by Apple when there's plenty of other all-you-can-eat music services that will happily license the music and break Apple's monopoly almost overnight. Services like Spotify, Napster, and Zune are already part of the way there, but there are still holes in some of their catalogues, presumably because of licensing restrictions.

Now the magazine publishers are doing the exact same thing with the iPad, and I'm pretty sure that it Apple managed to get the Apple TV off the ground, the TV and film industries would be all over that in a heartbeat. Am I just missing something here entirely or are these industries so desperate to ling onto their old business models that they would hand complete control of their products over to a totalitarian control freak?
