"the coming weeks" have gone and way passed, is the Nexus One left out in the cold or is Google pushing Icecream before an update for Nexus One will…
start, or is Froyo the last thing this thing will get...

Google just announced via its Nexus Twitter account (@GoogleNexus) that Gingerbread 2.3.3 is now rolling out to Nexus S and Nexus One OTA. https://twitter.com/googlenexus/status/40221838743...
Funny, I remember a year ago, I was waiting and waiting and waiting for the Eris to get it's promised 2.1 update (from 1.5) - promised to come in the first quarter, and it was finally delivered OTA in May. As it turned out, there was a lot more different between 1.5 and 2.1 (and there wasn't really that much - Navigation was the major big feature, and I rarely use it now) than there is between Froyo and Gingerbread on my long-since rooted phone. (I've been running Gingerbread on it for a couple of weeks.)
The one major thing that I have noticed is text selection and placement for editing is a lot better, but with the trackball on the N1, it's hardly horrible on Froyo.
I'm glad to see that the N1 is getting GB now, but I'll bet that you'll look back a few months from now and shake your head over how impatient you were for GB.

As do I, .......as do I. This is the worst part of being an Android user, the waiting. I try not to think about it, and it be a pleasant surprise when it finally arrives, but no one can do that.
In my opinion, this problem demonstrates what Apple can do, that Google and Microsoft can't. It doesn't make sense that only iOS (of these three platforms) have gotten an update in the last three months, arguably, the one that needed it the least! Google and Microsoft are failing at this. Either not realizing how important it is, or failing to deliver...
Apple is the only one who's getting it unfortunately, too bad I can't stand the iPhone with their iTunes (actually owned two iPhones in my days :P).
It just proves that Apple thinks more about their customers than many others and it will and have benefited them in the long run!

You mean, like the unusably slow iPhone 3G update which basically acted as an upsell to the 3GS/4?
