THE BEST router for use with Tomato firmware

This unit beats the pants off the WRT54GL for use with Tomato, especially in range. I've done a bunch of A-B comparisons with both of them sitting next to each other and the Buffalo wins every time. Solid as a rock, too.

you need to send an email to smallnetbuilder.net and make them test a bunch of routers on both tomato and DD-WRT. I think that is a very good question and it must be answered. If they wont do it, email tomshardware or anandtech.

What would you want tested with the alternative firmware?

I did not have much luck this with flashing this one, and managed to brick it.. being used as a n/w switch right now.

Really? I just got mine a month ago, downloaded the Tomato software, followed the instructions by running the commands right after turning it on.......bam! Done!

Had to shut off the router and the cable box, then turned the cable box on, waited for boot, then turned the router with Tomato back on before it would find an IP.

Since then it's been working great, boosted the power and it pretty much reaches all over my house. My PS3 and Roku boxes both connect wirelessly from the upstairs living room. As well as my Netbook all over the house.
