The sound processing of the H-120 has to the best that was manufactured for general public use. Not only does it has SRS sound technology, you could tweak the output properties of the sound to your very liking thanks to its comprehensive equalizer. Hooked up to my Sony receiver via TOSLINK (that's right, this thing has optical IN and OUT) outputting 100 Watts of power to my speakers, the sound blows me away every time.
Unfortunately, the 20GB that was more than enough in 2004, cannot quell my need for superb FLAC media in 2009. I have since upgraded to the Archos 5 250GB IMT. Although the audio currently does not match at all (due to a simple 3.5 mm connection), I will purchase the DVR Station that has Digital OUT and once again enjoy great audio playback.
I want to add the Fiio E5 to my setup to complete my amazing listening experience.

I am more amazed by the audio RECORDING quality. I use it to record the webcast which is hosted by me and my friend weekly using my iHP-140. The clarify of the record is simply bar none. However, this is basically how I use it for these days, while the "mp3 player" role had been taken over by iPod Touch a year ago (yeah, so sad ...)
