Discussion about
subscription music for the classic
what is the best service for unlimited tracks for the ipod classic (drm-ed of course) and something the zune pass.
That's the one big, huge, obvious hole in the Apple lineup. Apparently Steve is under the impression that nobody is really interested in a subscription music service. I beg to differ and its the key reason why I am finally looking to jump ship from the ipod after 7 years of buying them. That and I don't like itunes anymore.
The zune marketplace has less than half as many songs as iTunes... The zune video marketplace is a joke compared to iTunes and even Amazon and other VOD services... Maybe if the Zune HD finally makes a dent in the marketplace, they will invest in upgrading their store with real "unlimited music".....
Well I am trialling the Spotify service for the iPhone. I'm pretty happy with it - and I might cancel my Napster sub, although I appreciate being able to sync with Playsforsure devices (many of which are decent). Unfortunately not for the Classic.
Does Spotify on the iphone allow you to store and listen or is it live streaming only?
Spotify has a lot of potential, I've been testing it out. But I don't do much of my listening sitting at the PC and unfortunately they don't currently support any of the devices I do listen to music on (a couple of Squeezeboxes, a WinMo phone and an ipod).
There were a lot of rumours floating around a couple of months ago about a "spotify-like" music service to be launched by Microsoft. It will be interesting to see if they are true. I wonder how long Jobs & Co will be able to hold out before they are forced to drop the "people don't want a miusic subscription service" line and introduce one?
