I saw the UI demo, but the unit itself isn't exactly the start of the show.

They do show it on a working unit. Seems a bit sluggish to me.

The reason for the sluggishness is the "real world scenario" they're trying to emulate. In one of their videos they had the disclaimer right up front~They had quite a few apps running in the background.
@ArmpitOfDeath They've put up a few more videos of the software/hardware & are also demoing at CES this year.Pre-orders are set to be delivered by end of this month
PS:No,i'm not one of those 'notionink addicts'

That - a joojoo-style debacle notwithstanding - will be the proof of the pudding. Personally an Android tablet still doesn't interest me as much as e.g. a Windows Phone 7 tablet (or an *actually usable* keyboardless Windows tablet), but I'm aware I'm in the minority - and I'll definitely give it a try if it is actually buyable.

Check out engadget's preview of the tablet~www.engadget.com/2011/01/05/notion-ink-adam-hands-...
Lots of things come out at CES, never to be heard from again. I'm rooting for this still (a bit) but I have Expectation Fatigue now.
