Spec edit requests

Good news everyone: we'll finally be re-launching our product spec database! In the first phase, coming this week, we'll have read-only specs data available from the product pages. In phase two we'll be restoring the ability to edit spec pages (which older users of gdgt are probably pretty familiar with), so keep an eye out for that in the coming weeks.

If you happen to come upon a spec that looks incorrect, please shout it out here. Here's what we need to make any edits:
  • Name and/or URL of the product
  • Name of the spec in question
  • If possible, the current erroneous value
  • And, of course, the new, correct value that we should be seeing
Again, please only posts edit requests for inaccurate data, as we aren't presently going through and filling in missing information. That's something we'll be doing more of once editable specs

Thanks!

Surely it wouldn't be too much of an ask to give people the ability to suggest spec edits inline in yr CMS, on the spec page in question, rather than having one long discussion thread with all the edits in it. Seems messy. At the least, if you want systematic suggestions in the format you have mentioned above, provide a custom form with the 4 fields in it?

When I say writable specs won't be online, I'm being straight up. Right now we haven't rebuilt the CMS for it for anyone -- ourselves included -- so we'd have to make any corrections by hand (carefully) in our database.

Your idea about a form, though, is quite good.

Yeah cool, I wasn't thinking about an all-in-brawl wiki-style edit-fest, and I agree that changes are something for you to action, not the community. But it'd be nice to have something that more obviously tied suggestions to specs (better than a link from this thread).
If I'm on a spec page, see something amiss, and come to this thread, I've got close to zero chance of seeing whether someone else has already made the same change suggestion. If all suggested changes were grouped together on the page in question, then people could at least see others' thoughts in context.

The community had the ability to edit specs until 2.0 rolled out. I always thought it was a strength of the site and a boon to the community.

As for the other point one sub-tread per gadget would keep spam down and make it easy to just check the top level replies.

I'll post a link to a Google Docs form to keep track of these shortly.

So... could we get memory automatically converted to the number of Ls? Maybe put it in parentheses or something?

It would be nice if gdgt functionality like discussions, questions etc cover specs too.

It's much easier for us to update specs if you give us a link to the product or press release. I've changed the availability, and set the release date to August 31, as that's the date on the press release (though availability was more later in September).

This thread is for incorrect specs, not missing specs, which will be added at a later date. However, I have updated the colors, thank you.

Nokia Lumia 800 specs are not right, what there are of them, and they're incomplete too. E.g. actual weight is 142g, not 160. Colours are black, blue and magenta, not black only. Full details are here:- www.nokia.co.uk/gb-en/products/phone/lumia800/spec...
