So here is the deal: My fiance has had a blackberry curve for the past 2 years and is up for an upgrade. She is staying on Verizon but sick of Blackberry.
I suggested that she get either a Motorola Droid or HTC Incredible. She would love an Iphone (I have one), but who knows if it is actually coming to Verizon anytime soon?
From my research the main differences between the Incredible and Droid are the keyboard and camera. I feel that having a physical keyboard would be better for her, but I don't really know anything about HTC products as far as reliability and everyday use. Obviously both of these phones run Android, so software is a push. I thought about telling her about the Palm Pre Plus because the keyboard is similar to the curve, but I am weary of Palm products with all the bad things I have heard about Treos over the years. I really like the idea of the hotspot, but my opinion is that the phone isn't as nice as the Incredible or Droid.
Anyone have time with both phones? Who has real experience with HTC Android phones? Does the processing differences between the Incredible and Droid stick out to a moderate user (not someone who would use this site)? Let me know your top choice for available smartphones on Verizon

Reviews of the Incredible have been fairly unanimous in their praise of it as the "best Android phone" available. I would say her decision should come down to preference of form factor (physical keyboard (not great) vs virtual) and whether she likes HTC UI (IMHO a serious improvement over Droid). I would say Incredible is the way to go, but that's just me.
HTC has some of the most durable phones out there that I have seen, My Mytouch has survived a beating and still keeps going. The incredible is just about the only phone that has managed to top the iphone in ratings and is probably on par if not better then the upcoming 4G minus the proposed front facing camera.
And if the 5 year exclusivity deal with AT&T is valid there won't be a verizon iphone for at least 2 more years.

I got the Droid when it came out in November (coming from an iPhone 3GS) and I switched to the Incredible a couple weeks ago and I have to say there is a huge difference between the two devices.
The Incredible is a lot more responsive than the Droid and if you end up loading a lot of widgets on the screen and/or a live background there can be a noticeable lag on the Droid when scrolling from one pane to the next. Apps will obviously start a lot faster on the Incredible with one example being the camera app - it was always slow to open up on the Droid whereas it only takes seconds to come up on the Incredible (you can also tap on the screen to adjust the focus like you can on the iPhone; not so much on the Droid).
Another thing I've noticed between the two phones is that the screen on the Incredible seems a lot more responsive and accurate than the Droid; to me it feels no different than using an iPhone. It also helps that the virtual keyboard included on the Incredible is awesome compared to the stock Android version on the Droid (I used Better Keyboard in the Droid's case over the default). I never bothered with the physical keyboard as the virtual one was already my preference and I just was not impressed with the physical one.
If she really needs to have a physical keyboard I would suggest giving the Pre another look. Otherwise definitely go for the Incredible.

I am in the middle of a similar decision except it's between the Pre Plus and the Incredible. I went to Best Buy the other day and I tried both of them out. The Incredible was much more responsive but what I liked about the Palm Plus was how it functioned as a phone and the overall feel of webOS. The way I see it, the Incredible is more of a gadget and the Pre Plus more of a phone.
I too am waiting for the verizon iPhone, but I fear there might not be one until 2012--but I am going to wait until June 7th just to be sure. If there is no Verizon iPhone I am leaning towards a Pre Plus on a 1 year contract--I like Android too much to make a final decision.
Make sure you test-drive your phone BEFORE you buy it including an iPhone 4G on Verizon...

The user experience of an android phone cannot compare to webOS. One more factor to include is the size of the overall device. Does she have small hands? If so, the Palm is the better choice as even with the keyboard extended everything is accessible with your thumb. I suggest having her try each phone for a few weeks before deciding which one to ultimately go with.
