Red Dead Redemption is out on May 18th. Are you getting it?
Personally, I have some bizarre, guilty pleasure of enjoying spaghetti westerns. This new open-ended game from Rockstar Games looks so fun and I can't wait for its release. I'll probably be picking up a copy the day it comes out on the PS3.
It even has multiplayer. Maybe we can get some folks together and start a gdgt posse!
Anyway, it looks awesome.

I can only imagine how excited you were when you typed this out and then kicked back and enjoyed all of the western cowboy impersonation you built-in.
"Howdy folks! Let's wrangle up 'dem steers and form us a posse!"
OH, and I would totally get this game if I had a PS3 and we could play together. I'm totally jealous. Any reason you're getting it on PS3 instead of Xbox?

Sam, you have no idea. What do you think I was wearing while I typed that post up?

Yeah I am with you, I was a huge fan of Gun and this is right up my ally, being a cowboy of sorts myself. In fact I am kind of annoyed I traded Gun in awhile back, my have to find a used copy to get myself in the mood. I am still getting over trying to grapple people from Just Cause.
Just picked it up this morning, and the intro cut scene is just bad ass
I am going to love this game I just spent 5 minutes watching a drunk in the first town, freaking epic.
I'm totally renting it when it comes out! The only problem is how many games are coming out around that time....
Red Dead Redemption (PS360) - May 18th
Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands (PS36Wii) - May 18th
Split Second (PS360) - May 18th
Alan Wake (360) - May 18th
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii) - May 23rd
ModNation Racers (PS3) - May 25th
Blur (PS360) - May 25th
Attention game makers: releasing all these amazing games at one time is crazy!! We don't have enough time or money and this is not Christmas time yet!

also Trauma Team for Wii (May 18th) and UFC Undisputed 2010 (May 25th) if your into that stuff...
I wasn't going to, but I broke down and bought it after seeing all the glowing reviews it was getting. Haven't made it too far in yet, still doing the tutorial levels. But liking it nonetheless so far. It's a nice change of setting from the typical space marine / D&D / WWII settings that dominate the majority of video game titles.
I rented it from Blockbuster as I am a huge Rockstar fan. Typical of many Rockstar games, the production values and voice acting are top notch, but the game starts off very slow... I think I am about 8 hours in and nothing substantial has happened. The dialogue scenes are very slow and atmospheric and they fit well with the western genre - its just that they are slower than the run and gun of the GTA series. Once you do run and gun though, its pretty awesome. Like all Rockstar open world games, the world is fully realized and there is stuff to do everywhere. The graphics are the best yet seen on a Rockstar title also. I am having trouble (the good kind) with sticking to going through the storyline since there are animals to kill everywhere and side-missions and poker/sit-down games all over the place. The more cities and people to do missions for are unlocked, the better this is getting...
also, the western scores and subtle guitar/western movies sounds are a delight...

Yeah I am enjoying just riding around the game, I have to force myself to actually do quests. Some of the quests are boring but its hard to make the wild west more then what it really was. I think they did beyond a good job at making the game very enjoyable, and realistic.
My only want would have been something like what other games do where you could take a good or bad path. Become a law enforcment Rancher or a Bandit leader, but all in all this is a very good game, and I am curious about the multiplayer as well.

I thought that was what the Honor system is.... it keeps saying if you do good deeds, people will treat you better and like you whereas if you do bad deeds people will shun you and you'll basically be a villain... I'm mostly sticking to good deeds though so I don't know how the evil path works...
Yeah that is what it does but I envision starting your own bandit group, taking over a city, causing havoc, and vice versa.
also also, has anyone played the multiplayer yet? I'm curious what thats like...
theres no doubt about it - I am completely addicted to this game...... I checked my stats before I went to bed last night and I have played the game for over 28 hours - it just came out 6 days ago... I love the main story arc. I love the characters, the side missions, the challenges (master hunter, survivalist, etc.), the costume collecting and treasure hunting... Just classic Rockstar and GTA goodness... the subtle western soundtrack and sound queues are pretty great too....
haven't been hit this hard in a while.....

after beating this game, I must say it is one of the most powerful, enthralling games I've played in a long time... bravo Rockstar!!
