RAW + JPEG in "Auto" mode?

Hi guys! I promise not to flood this board with endless newbie questions, but this one is bugging me: despite what the user manual states, I can't seem to get my S90 to record both RAW and JPEG files in "Auto" mode. When I press the "Menu" button (while in Auto mode), there isn't an option to record in RAW. When I switch over to "Program" mode, I can set it to record in RAW, but after saving the change and switching back to Auto I only get JPEGs.

Am I missing something obvious here?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they leave this out because part of the "Auto" mode is to run the picture through the cameras own post-processing algorithms to make it look the best in whichever conditions the camera detects it is in.

You can put the camera in manual or program mode and place all the settings on "Auto" with RAW + JPEG enabled. This should produce the same effect.

Yea, Canon camera's do not let you shoot raw in auto mode..
