Pricing the 13" Mid 2012 Macbook Air

I have my early 2011 Macbook Pro 15" 2.2 i7 machine on Amazon to sell. What I want to trade it in for is the just announced Macbook Air 13".

I am wondering should I go for the baseline with the 128GB HD or the upper level model with the 256GB.

Basically its a difference of $300.

I have about decided just to stick with the base model and possibly offset with iTunes match and an external HD to carry around if I really want all of music files. I would basically treat the Air as another appliance such as my iPhone and iPad (2012). Do you think I should just pony up the $300 now and not regret it later.

I mainly use my computer for web browsing, music etc.

If you normally have a network connection (which is like 99% of the time for me because I usually have my laptop at home or work, then iTunes match is a good idea. It requires nothing to be plugged in of course. It does have a few limitations (25000 songs which in my opinion is a lot)

you can read about them here support.apple.com/kb/HT4914

If you are willing to carry around an external hard drive with your songs in case you don't have network, it is a solid backup plan. If you don't have a problem with that, you probably dont need to spend the $300 on the extra SSD space.

Although another big factor is how long you plan to keep the MBA. For a couple years 128GB may not be bad, but in the future you don't want to be kicking yourself for not upgrading. (Although by then, OWC will probably have an SSD upgrade kit for sale)

Well I am sure I will keep it at least a year. I am not sure about the SSD size really although I don't want to feel space limited. I think I may go for the 256GB just to feel on the safe side.
