Pricey and Unreliable
I purchased this drive about a year ago and I've already problems with it multiple times. Usually it comes in the form of it not being detected on my computer and once I plug it back in a few times, it eventually works. The Firewire 800 connection is dead now so I can only use the USB which is stupid since I purchased it for the faster Firewire 800. Also, I got the 250GB for around $110 off Newegg. It looks nice, but I've had enough problems that I would say it isn't worth buying.
I can't say I've seen those kinds of problems out of the rugged drives. We've got a number of them where I work. If you haven't yet, give their warranty support a try. I had a lot of trouble out of a WD studio passport and they replaced it pretty quick. I know it's not the same company, but hopefully you'll have a similar experience.
