Poor colors compared to 1G

Hey

I recently got a iPod Touch 3G.
I already have a iPod Touch 1G.

I turned on both, to compare, and found that the colors of the 1G screen is way better than those of the 3G. That doesn't make much sense to me, as afaik it should be the same screen?

The colors are more weak and white tends to be more yellowish on the 3G compared to the 1G..

Have anybody else observed this? and might somebody have an explanation?

Why did you purchase a Ipod Touch 3G when you already had a 1G? They're almost the same thing save speakers and width.

They're not really the same at all. I had a 1G before it broke and I had to get a 3G. 400MHz -> 600MHz, 128MB RAM -> 256MB RAM, longer battery life, higher capacity, bluetooth, microphone input. But believe me, I reaallllly liked my 1G :)

Ah, that makes sense.

And did you ever leave your Ipod Touch 3G in a car for a night when it was below 0 F?

the ipod touch 3rd gen actually has a 833mhz arm processor underclocked to 600 so maybe later they will take that off and it will be 833. hopefully without making us pay for a software update.

Apparently the older Touches have a more 'pinkish' white in comparison to the 3G's 'yellowish' whites. Overall though I'm happy with the screen. Would be nice to have an OLED though...
