PlayStation 3 3D Display Impressions

Today, Sony came over at the university I attend and showed off the PlayStation 3 3D Display. It's not going to be out until November but the Sony employees were confident that it'll be out before Black Friday considering that it's the biggest shopping day of the year.

I thought the 24" 3D monitor was actually pretty nice! It is really slim and the 3D effect is pretty good. The glasses were comfortable, light, and looked pretty nicely as well. I wasn't able to try out the special 2 player mode since other people were playing but I did see the two different silhouettes overlapping each other from the 2 different viewpoints when I watching other people play. The front of the monitor reminded me of a giant PSP Go but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The monitor has 2 HDMI ports and allows for one set of component cables. Lastly, I would definitely be interested in buying this monitor since it's a really good size tv/monitor for a room.

Here's a link to some of the pictures I took: https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/112473624833285...
If you have any questions, I'll gladly answer them the best I can! Enjoy!

The display only has 3 inputs? That feels like way too few. I guess they really don't intend for it to be the center of a home entertainment system.

Ya, but considering that the PS3 can play Blu-Rays and you can plug in a computer for the other hdmi port, I'm fine with that. They also did stress that this is perfect for dorm rooms and bedrooms.

Well, it's just that once you add a cable box, you're all filled up. There's no room for other game systems or set-top boxes... very sneaky, Sony.

Component for STB. It's how I deal with having 3 or less ports on my current set.

Dorm rooms? Who spends $500 for a tv in their dorm room? You can get a PS3, Roku and 20" HDtv for that price, not just a 3D HDtv that's going to be old news when you move and want a 50" HDtv.

A little expensive to a PC monitor but did they say if it can and what the resolution might be if it is connected?

They told me it'll support 1080p and that it can double as a monitor.
