panasonic 20mm f1.7

I'm wondering if anyone has heard of this lens. It seems like an alternative to the 17/2.8 but much faster.. it also shares the same compact design. I WANT!

Panasonic's official roadmap has it pegged for a 2009 release, but it seems that might have been pushed back a bit. A shame, because I sure agree with you, I also want...

Panasonic is having a press event on september 1st to announce the GF1 and the 20mm and the 45mm macro, I think we'll see them this fall.

Panny lenses are hard to find in Korea, but I'll grab it if I can get my hand on it (I'll likely have to give up one of my arms). Oly's 17mm F2.8 pancake is an absolute dog (not a greyhound) on focusing speed and I'm looking for something with a bit wider aperture (2 or faster).

Have it and love it. It is many measures better than the Olympus focusing speed and low light performance (although Oly's firmware update for both the E-P2 and the Panny's 20mm probably have a lot to do with the increase in focusing speed).

Amazon pre-order price for US is $400 for the 20mm f/1.7 and $900 for the 45mm macro. I pre-ordered the 20mm/1.7 and seems really high, just hope it has the performance to match.

I'm just waiting for my Norwegian distributor to get it in stock and I'll take it for a test drive.
