Discussion about
Outrageous Cost!!
"The device itself will cost $249.99 before taxes and fees, with the actual service starting at $8.99 per month, Flo TV said. The $8.99/mo price also requires users to sign up for a whopping three-year commitment, also forcing the user to prepay for the entire three-year period, a payment that's non-refundable."

Yeah its really expensive and honestly i really can't see what it would offer.
really expensive........ you start at $574 with a three year commitment!!! and ya, what does it offer? people can get this already with their cellphones mobile tv service, their cable/satellites mobile tv service, slingbox, hulu,..........................
Point made but you actually pay more for cellphone internet and slingplayer, which is coming to android finally, so i may have to get one.;
well a slingbox is a one time payment... slingplayer is a one time purchase... and you assume you have to have a data plan to use those anyway... plus you can use your cellphone internet for much more as you know...
It seems unbelievable to me that they would require the 3-year payment up front. It takes what seems like a reasonable amount (~$8/month) and making it seem outrageous.
I really hope it was some kind of miscommunication too. I like the idea of a sturdy, optimized mobile TV device and a cheap monthly cost, but this article ruined it. Hopefully they will pull a PSPgo move and start dropping prices before it launches and reconsider this boneheaded 3 year payment up front nonsense......
As cool as this device sounds, I'm not so enthused at the idea of paying that kind of money, for a device that's only capable of doing one thing, and one thing only.....mobile television. An increasing number of people already own smartphones and more and more of these phones are coming with tons of features already built in. These things come with GPS, decent cameras with video taking capability, web browsers, PIM, mobile internet, electronic compasses (of all things) and last but not least, mobile television.
Having said that, why on earth would I pay this amount of money for a device that only provides one of the aforementioned features?

exactly....the device has dedicated bandwidth, a big touchscreen... it has the potential to add a couple things and be nice web tablet and TV device... or just drop the price!! do something with it....
Well i think after it fails in the market that might become more of a reality.
