OS 3.1 Battery Life

I upgraded to 3.1 straight after the announcement during the Apple media event yesterday, and for one of the applications I use my iPhone for the most - reading ebooks on Stanza, the battery life seems to have improved noticeably.

Is anyone else noticing this with 3.1?

You´re a lucky man.

I upgraded my 3G this morning: five hours later, the batt is completely drained. Not at 20%, but completely.

I have push, notifications and location ON, 3G and wifi off.

Incredible.

Yeah I've read of a couple other people reporting that battery life had actually improved. I wish I were one of them. I was hoping that my device would adjust after a couple days and so far it's still worse than ever. I've had to drasticaly modify my usage and turn off features when I'm not actively using them. I even tried to undo the damage and revert back to the OS that worked, but now I can't. I can't remember the last time an update resulted in reduced functionality. I hope Apple comes up with a fix soon.

ok now I don't know what to do, should I download or not? My battery life is not great as it is.
What else is 3.1 supposed to do that's worthwhile, anybody know?

3.1 allows you to lock your phone remotely with a pass-code if you use MobileMe.

Supposedly there's also Genius Mixes in the iPod functionality.

The day after my 3.1 upgrade, the phone was also completely drained. I did leave it unplugged with the wifi enabled, so that's probably the culprit. But it reset my Exchange settings, not a big deal, but I thought those were saved on disk/flash... Anyhow, the next day, I found out that I could not make or receive any calls, so I rebooted. After the reboot I got a warning about low battery and that I was on Edge rather than 3G. Charged the phone up again, and the next day it did it again. Today it seem to behave, but I'll have to call myself in the AM to see if it has stopped responding. If that's the case, I'd like my old crappy verizon "dumb" phone back, since I do need to make calls.
