Discussion about
nike plus GPS on iphone 4 /4s
Hi i'm running regularly using Nike+ on my iphone (without a sensor) i have had to take several runs to calibrate it until it now actually seems to register the correct distance compared with the map.
Two related questions.
1. After i finish every run i always get the message "No GPS data available" and it won't show a map (i have to manually input to nike) Is there somewhere i need to "switch on" GPS?
2. If GPS is on by default and nike+ is supposed to use it, then how come it has been so inaccurate in logging distances? (up to 20% added to distances). Surely if it did use GPS it would know where it was and use mapping data to calibrate itself?
I have now calibrated and checked distance by running with a Garmin, but it would be nice to be able to trust the Nike reliability.
thanks for any advice.

Personally I have never used the Nike+ iPhone app. If you are not happy with it, i would recommend trying imapmyrun. Sounds like it is very similar to the Nike + app, and i have use it for over a year with no issues. All runs are uploaded to their website to be viewed, or you can view them right on your phone. It will give you time, distance, speed, and show the rout you ran on a map. It even lets you create custom routs that you can run, then rerun and compare your speeds.
The only other thing you can check is make sure you dont have location services disabled on the phone. Just check setting location services. Make sure it it set to on, and also check to make sure the if the nike app has its own separate setting location setting that is it also set to on.
