Nexus to get new Dalvik engine?

Myriad has, as many know, developed a way to make the java in Android run 3 times faster.
It is said that it will make the engine faster without hurting the performance and battery.

Does anyone have any idea if an update will implement the new Dalvik into the Nexus One?,
has anyone any confirmation?

I heard this as well, in fact I heard that there is two, one within Google and one that is developed outside of Google. The one dev'd by Google is partially in AOSP so there is a chance that it could migrate its way in Android by 2.5 which should be out by october. They are sticking to a close release schedule and 1.6 came out last october.

I'm sure that Google is constantly tweaking their Java engine in order to make it run faster. They might be trying to keep battery life and available resources at a maximum, especially for the purposes of getting Android 2.1 onto older devices.

if you are referring to Dalvik Turbo, it is developed by a 3rd party who is trying to sell the engine to the likes of HTC or even Verizon directly. It would have to be built into the handset as the ROM has to be compiled with it. There is no way you could get this from an OTA update. This also wouldn't help the nexus one too much as it mostly speeds cpu rendering of graphics, and the nexus one has a dedicated GPU, unlike the G1 or myTouch.

This is true, although Google is working on improvements to the Dalvik which they say rival Dalvik turbo. I believe there are parts of the new Dalvik already in the AOSP build it is just not full or compiled yet.

That is great to know, Nexus is probably pretty fast as it is anyway, with the snapdragon and all.

Hope Google will make Dalvik faster with updates in the future.
Thanks for all the responses.
