New rev of iMac any time soon?

I'm thinking of getting either a 20" or 24" iMac in the near future - probably between August ~ September 2009. Does anyone out there think they'll be rev'ing this any time soon with a new model and that I should therefore wait a bit?

I haven't heard any rumors on this but just curious what others feelings are.

Thanks!

The current version came out 3/4/2009, which makes it 5 months old. I guess a speed bumped version in the next 3 to six months. I'd just go ahead and get one now. Make sure to get the $10 upgrade for Leopard when it comes out.

That's a good point apophis. Plus I heard some rumor recently that the iMac's might be getting some other upgrades that are geared towards pro-audio users. That seems kinda unlikely since the iMac is really geared towards your everyday-consumer but I think I'll wait at least until the next Mac announcement before buying.

Thanks everyone.

The Led display prices have gone down, and apples pressure to be green has gone up, my hope is that they will soon update the iMac to use an LED backlit display, the way they do on the 24 display they sell for $800, I know that I can now buy a 24" Dell LED backlit for $200. Im sure the quality is not quite as good as apples, but lets hope they throw it the towel, the green towel and go for the upgrade soon. It should run on much less power that the florescent backlight that is now in the imac, but last longer and be greener.

I have the imac and love it to bits, so I say get one whenever you feel like it, although snow leopard will be out at the end of September and would be worth a few weeks wait. Apple usually updates in cycles and the next one due is the ipod line (although I'm hopping for the phantom tablet to appear!). Unless you are a must have the latest and greatest I'd buy the end of September.

There's really no reason to wait based on Snow Leopard now. It's releasing on Friday - and even if it wasn't, the up-to-date program gives you Snow Leopard on any new mac for only $10.

I really want a new iMac, but I'm hopeful there'll be a 30-inch version and/or Blu-Ray in the next go around.

Blu-Ray would be nice. Let's hope those iTunes rumors are true.

I see no one has mentioned this, so I will: BUY A REFURB. The current 24" version is wonderful, and I can't really see any great reason to wait for a new model when they'll cost you more anyways. Mac refurbs have always been excellent (in my experience) and you'll spend significantly less on one. Sure, if you want Blu-Ray built in, then you can wait. But other than RAM, Hard Drive space, drives, and monitors, what are you going to get on a new iMac that will make it more desirable? None of these are really motivating factors for me, especially since three of the four are easily remedied with external solutions or upgrades.

Yes. Check Apple's refurb store, it changes DAILY.

I went to replace my HD in my iMac last Tuesday and the guy at the genius bar said they aren't taking any more orders for my iMac brand because new ones are coming out soon. He said I would need to go to an Apple authorized retailer, I decided to do it myself.

How, I would love a 30" imac. would surpass even my desire for the much rumoured tablet!
