This phone makes me yearn for a fourth classification of desire on GDGT. Currently, we have "Have," "want," and "had."
The N97 makes me think "don't want," or "wouldn't take even if it was free" would be equally useful choices.
Discussion about
New classification
Well, yes, if I don't want I won't get, but you could present the same criticism for any classification "If you want it, just get it."
The point of the classifications is to discuss our feelings towards gadgets.
And I didn't mean I wouldn't take one free literally. I meant it only as a way to express my extreme disappointment with a gadget for which I waited for over a year.
And yes. Even after the official announcement, I dutifully made my trek to Boston to try it out. The next day I ordered a Nokia N85 for $200. I'm very happy with my purchase.

"Don't want" = don't check "want it." Done.
I'd rather have a community of users talking about the products they like, not the products they hate.

I don't see why. We're discussing gadgets in their entirety, not simply raving fanboys.
What if I had bought an N97 and wanted to come here to discuss how much it sucked, would you still say I shouldn't?
Want, don't want; like, don't like. The terms exist on a spectrum that I would like to fully discuss. I don't want to spend my time on one end.
And besides, I'll say yet again, I'm not seriously saying we should have those classifications. I was using it merely as a way to express my disappointment.
