Never found a better player
I have had this player over 3 years and I still like it better than any other players I've tried.
I have tried a Zune 30, Ipod Classic, Archos 600 series, Sandisk, etc. Even another Creative player, the Zen 2nd Gen player doesn't perform as well as my M does.
This is the most convenient and easy to use player I have ever owned. It plays most everything I have thrown at it without any hassle. If I have a video file I just transfer it over with a drag and drop (no software install required in most cases, just plug it in and windows recognizes it) and away I go to an airport or some other situation where I have to wait and I am watching a movie or a TV show instead of bored out of my mind.
Yes, it's clunky. Yes, you can feel the HD spin when you hold it. Yes it even has disk errors that require a reboot once in a while. But the battery life is still superb after years. The sound is excellent and the screen is still flawless, it doesn't scratch easily at all. I don't treat it especially gently, so I'd consider it a very tough device.
I could find an acceptable level of accessories for it, like a car charger and silicone skins. I keep it in a generic faux leather carrying case that I think I got at a dollar store.
I love this player and I wish newer players had the versatility to play formats that this one does. I hate converting files because I am always doing things at the last minute.

And what happened then? You an iPod user now? Damn, I'd rather have a Zune (I actually did at some point, 1st gen, 30GB)..
But I always end up back with the Zen Vision:M 60GB

I would agree, even with a damaged screen mine keeps playing and sounds better then anything else i have listened to.
Fix the screen! I've found parts from other Zen Vision:M 's, on eBay and I bet you could find them on craigslist too.
SO worth it.
SO worth it.
I'm going to sound redundant, but I agree as well. If my headphone jack didn't break on me, I would still have this player. So many features on this thing that's not available on other players.
If you still have it lying around, you could fix it man! Its definitely worth it!
Totally agree, mine's 3 years old and battery life is still in the 12 to 14 hours.
I chose it over ipods cause it had fm radio.
Bulky clunky it is, friends mocking me, friends that rather have an ipod that they leave at home because there's no radio in it.
Never been trapped by itune or something, just took every files from everywhere, put it in with no thinking and just listen and watch.

Dude, this vs iPods? Its not even the FM... iPods sound card is incredibly crappy. See it for yourself; just test it with some decent headphones.. You'll see what a HUGE difference this wonderful player does.
iTunes SUCKS... plus, I'm not a windows (nor mac) user, I am a proud Linux user, and I can sync this beautiful product with my Linux Box, no problems.

Count one more dude...
I've only tried ONE other player after this one... I got a Creative Zen X-Fi 32GB w/WiFi... the sound quality was just as good, and battery life was incredible, but I love the feel to this one. I love the way it fits in my hand and I love how heavy it is. I just love everything about it...
I recently sold the X-Fi.
I own, an Android phone (Droid X, to be precise); the music playing software I'd recommend is POWERAMP, but, whenever I really want to spend some time listening to music; I'd use this wonderful player.
This original post is from 2009... its now 2011. I got this player early 2007... Its been over 4 years... still rocks.
And I also use a faux leather carrying case. Lol!
