Netflix Streaming?

What if the Zune HD could feature instant wireless streaming from Netflix? It would look pretty sweet with that screen and Tegra chip.

It would be nice and not to far fetched seeing as how it is on the Xbox. IT would definitely swing my vote toward the zune instead of the Zii.

This feature would be absolutely killer. The use case for me would be to plug the HD into the dock with HDMI out to the HD tv in the bedroom. True I can already use the xbox to stream netflix in the family room, but there are other tvs in the house where I'd like that functionality. This would also imply Silverlight support for Zune HD which would be a huge win for me an enable lots of apps/games that competitive devices don't support. I already ported a NES emulator to Silverlight just in case ;)

I almost forgot about the dock! That would add more functionality, wouldn't it?

This would be a great function and could have a killer interface mixing the 360 interface with touch. SD & HD movies alike could really shine on this screen... I hope more places start having free wi-fi....

Or maybe the whole country, that would be nice.

Well keep on that but i think google has a better chance of rolling out free wifi then the government.

I remember when that was big news but never happened. Hopefully google will free us all and cement my love for them... then give me a free Android phone that isn't tethered to any service!!!!

Just found Brian Seitz in an interview with Cnet.com at reviews.cnet.com/8301-12519_7-10307693-49.html?tag... Watch his response to a Netflix on Zune HD question at 13:25/48:38

it would have been nice if while docked, the Zune HD acted as a Media Extender, just like the XBOX360

the battery wouldn't be a worry, the only thing concerning would be the amount of bandwidth the thing could pull, and that could have been solved by putting an ethernet cable input on the Dock.

What if we could use the zune hd as a remote control. Stream your video to the zune and have it connected to your tv to view. No need for apple tv or netflix box.

thats called "mad added value" :P

once the zune gets flash this will become a reality if they don't bar the device like they did with the PS3.....

That wouldn't happen (Barring the device)

Netflix has an established relationship with Microsoft via the Xbox 360. Why would Netflix shut out another Microsoft device?

I'm guessing it's Microsoft that prohibits this from happening

they'd rather you pick up a 360

I could see that they would definitely make more, although i do see the Zune getting it eventually as part of a unified microsoft experience.

ya, unifying their products is the only way microsoft is going to win.... the prospect of a unified microsoft experience on your pc, game console, phone, and PMP is just too awesome to pass up!! (maybe throw courier in there soon too ;)

Yeah, they have tried with WMC but it is going to help if they do something like the Zune HD interface. Winmo is going that way and xbox dashboard always had that element, so it would be nice to see it all unified.
