Netflix just went live on the Android Market and loading it on my Nexus One it's pretty awesome, just really slow.

Hopefully they push out some speed fixes sometime soon.

Not compatible with my Droid X. Is there any particular reason why it's only compatible with certain phones?

they claim it's drm but there have been several ports of the .apk that work on most android phones. The downloads are over at XDA: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076150

Worked on my Droid completely. Did not work on the droid2. The instant streaming did not work, but the queue management worked. Not bad.

DRM support is my guess. I'm also bummed that it's not available on my Xoom.

Yup, not compatible with my droid either. I am wondering what the technical explanation is as well. And yeah I am also sure it is DRM related.

I sure am glad I have one of the approved devices! My commute is looking much more exciting!

I think it sucks that you can't manage your DVD/blu ray queue. like if I search for a movie, lets say inception, and its not for streaming there's no way to add it to my que. also the app is terribly slow. Its almost embarrassing that they couldn't get scrolling right.

Plus I'd rather they focus on a tablet app.

They've taken DVD queue management out of the iOS apps too. It's really annoying.

I have noticed the speed issues as well on my Nexus S. It works well and the video quality looks great. I haven't had any buffering problems but the whole app seems a little bit slow.

I have noticed the UI is sluggish on 3 phones I have seen now. Once the movie starts its good... I think it the way the read/cache the pictures not very smooth...

Yeah it doesn't really seem to be caching at all. You are right that once the movie starts playing it's fine, it's just getting to that point that's a total pain. Really doesn't make me want to use the app.

I installed netflix and realized that it was a 24mb application. My N1 didn't have enough memory to function - which was why it was so slow. Uninstalled netflix and the N1 is back to rocket ship status.

You can put Netflix on your SD card via the application settings menu.

I first went to the application to move it to the SD but the option was greyed out - so I chose uninstall instead.

Oh, weird. Wonder why I'm able to move it to my SD card and you aren't. Running Gingerbread?

Yeah 2.3.4. I did install the app the moment I saw it hit techmeme .. maybe there was an update? Maybe the fact that memory was down to 6mb free disabled the option?

I can't seem to keep above the 20mb free required to run the N1. I actually use the installed apps from day to day ...

Interesting, I just downloaded and installed again and was able to move it to the SD card... seems to work okay now ...

Update: loaded my instant queue and was able to play starship troopers ... seems fine now.

Even after the netflix app was updated yesterday they are still not showing the Thunderbolt any love.

I don't know this netflix, but I have tried Voddler, and though movie selection is not great yet, they are getting there.
