My wife just got a brand new i7 MacBook Pro, which means I no longer have the most powerful computer in the house.

Not sure how much longer I can allow this to be the case.

I, too, have one of those households... we always end up buying gadgets in twos.

Do you find that it's running hot like some people were claiming?

I think most people would notice a bigger improvement by upgrading to a nice SSD than from i5 to i7.

I just asked her, she hasn't noticed it running hot at all.

I guess it depends on what you're doing with it. The machine dead-idles about 10C more than most other machines of the same ilk, and it gets rapidly worse from there. As for running hot, the unibodies don't conduct much of their internal furnace to the outside.

I just heard from Little Petey that he's got an 8-core Mac Pro on the way. He pities your old-man computer.

Did she go for the 15 or 17?

I don't think the 17 supports the i7.

Will get the MBP 17" next Monday (Feb 7). So stoked now I can tell my wife I have the most power computer in the house, so I'm the reverse of you :D
