My friend and I book and promote shows. We've had a lot of success using the Zi8. Our main reason for choosing it was the ability to use an external mic.
It's been a perfect fit for the shows we do. Low-light hasn't been a problem, and framerates are superb! The battery life is a bit short, but a second battery and charger have covered that problem.
